The hotel is very nice. Unfortunately, rooms that do not face the water have poor views and are subjected to the sounds of the loading docks and trash trucks throughout the night.

Check in is always an issue here maybe in part due to high staff turnover. This was probably our tenth stay but we are always asked if it is our first. I tend to request specific room locations in advance, and am always assured everything will be fine, only to find my request has been ignored. That said, we keep coming back because of the great view over the Old Port and the helpfulness of a lot of the staff, special mention for the concierges, chamber maids and gouvernante.

It is a pleasure to arrive at Sofitel you feel so welcome by all the frontline staff. As it happened that night we were staying in a room with balcony and saw a magnificent display of drones and fireworks for the launch ceremony for the Olympic Games. Makes you want to come and stay there for July 14th. We had a lovely meal at the restaurant Les 3 Forts. Well worth it.

For the price you pay and the service you get, by far the worst 5 star hotel I ever stayed at. You get no service, they won't let you check in early, and during breakfast, you have to go to the server otherwise you won't get their attention and no service. I won't recommend.
